Storm Intercept Summary

Well, where do I start?  Today started out with the makings of a significant tornado outbreak over Eastern Nebraska and Northeast Kansas.  However, after all was said and done, I didn't even get to see a single thunderstorm or a single drop of rain, for that matter.  This is what we storm chasers call a busted chase.
I traveled approximately 225 miles today, and I ended up in Southern Nebraska in a town called Beatrice.  I did get to see some great Kansas and Nebraska countryside.  I sat around this area for almost four hours and waited and waited and waited for some storms to develop.  It just so happened, the storms that developed were much further north of my location.  Storms did fire after dark in Northeast Kansas, but not much of anything severe was reported with these storms.
Once again, with any busted chase like this, I always learn something new about forecasting severe weather.  No matter what, there will always be times that the forecasts do not pan out, and I will continue to look for new ways of planning my next storm chase trip.
